At Gym Kinetics, our Open Gym sessions offer a fun, flexible, and safe way for kids (and sometimes teens) to enjoy the gym beyond regular classes. Whether your child wants to practice cartwheels, flip around the tumble track, bounce on trampolines, or simply explore the equipment in a low-pressure setting, Open Gym is the perfect option.
Why Try Open Gym?
Open Gym gives children the freedom to move, play, and experiment without the structure of a formal class. It helps them build strength, coordination, confidence, and creativity. It’s not about mastery or perfect routines; rather, it’s about joy, exploration, and movement. Kids often surprise themselves by trying something new when given the space to do so.
Plus, Open Gym is a great chance for parents to observe their child’s progression in a casual environment. It encourages movement play, fosters independence, and keeps kids active even on days when they don’t have a scheduled class.

Ages, Access & Participation
We offer Open Gym time slots for different age groups to ensure safety, enjoyment, and age-appropriate play.

Kids 6 & Up: These sessions are reserved for children who are 6 years or older. Parents drop off and pick up; during the session, gym staff supervise all participants.

Preschool / Toddler Sessions: For children up to age 5, we host specialized Preschool Open Gyms, where a parent or guardian is required to be present and engage with their child.

Team/Pre-team Members: Team athletes or pre-team students often get discounted access, giving them extra practice time in a familiar environment.
Every participant must have a signed waiver on file before entering the gym. We require that a completed waiver be submitted for every open gym day. No exceptions.


What to Expect at Open Gym
When you arrive, here’s how it works:

Check-in & Waiver Verification: Sign or confirm the waiver is on file.

Warm-up: Kids are encouraged to stretch or jog lightly before hitting the equipment.

Free Play Time: Participants choose which stations or equipment to use, under staff guidance.

Skill Exploration: Try flips, handstands, rope climbs, beams, bars, whatever sparks curiosity (within safety limits).

Cool Down & Wrap Up: We finish with light stretching, gathering, and escorting participants out safely.
During the session, certified staff are on the floor to supervise, spot, and coach basics as needed. We do not run a formal class, but we will help with form corrections or suggestions.

Tips for a Great Visit

Arrive Early: Give your child time to warm up before the clock starts ticking.

Dress for Movement: Leotards, shorts, or athletic wear work best. Avoid zippers, jewelry, or loose clothing.

Bring Grip or Tape: Useful for bars or uneven bars work.

Hydration & Snacks: Keep water handy. We recommend a small, light snack afterward if needed.

Listen to Staff Guidance: For safety, staff may limit usage of certain equipment or steps if the floor gets crowded.
Safety Is Our Priority
We maintain a strong emphasis on safety during all Open Gym sessions. All equipment is inspected regularly, mats are in place, and staff are trained to spot and assist. We also limit occupancy to ensure every child has space to move. Rules about no parents inside the gym (for some sessions) are in place to avoid distractions and keep focus on safe play.
